According to the sheriff’s office, Barr’s family has asked for privacy while they mourn the loss of their loved one. Another skier was swept up in the avalanche, but he managed to escape unharmed. In the statement that was released on Sunday, the sheriff’s office expressed their “sincerest condolences” to the Barr family as well as their friends. “Show your loved ones that you care by hugging them frequently and telling them how much you adore them.”

“Ryan was a loving spouse, father, son, and brother to all of his family members. He was a member of a large, loving family who did everything together and treasured the time they got to spend together, especially on vacations, birthdays, and other special occasions. He had a career in commercial real estate and enjoyed cooking, skiing, and surfing in his spare time. He enjoyed life to the fullest before being snatched from us much too soon. His family, especially his wife Caroline and their young daughter Anna, will miss him terribly.
