Neal Spence Obituary, Death Cause – It was tremendously beneficial for Pittsburgh to have him give his “eye in the sky” view to the city during his career. During this time, he was able to look down on the city from above. There is a good chance that the name Neal Spence is well-known to a significant number of you, and you should be able to call it to memory. During the course of his tenure at WTAE, which lasted for a total of 19 years, he had a variety of jobs at the station, including that of reporter and traffic pilot, amongst others.
Between the years 1978 and 1997, he worked as a pilot in order to be of assistance to those who lived in Pittsburgh during the morning and afternoon rush hours. He did this in order to reduce the amount of congestion that occurred. Spence’s fight against cancer was eventually unsuccessful, and the disease took his life. He died away as a direct consequence of his illness.
After serving his country with honor in Vietnam, Spence went on to finish his high school degree at Baldwin High. During his time in the military, he was decorated for his service. Hospice care was being provided to him in Florida, where he had been living up until very recently. He had been there for some time. He had more than 14,000 hours of airtime under his belt by the time he retired from his career in radio and television broadcasting.
