Mary Pawlak Obituary, Death Cause – Mary Margaret Pawlak, who was born in Utica and lived in Peoria, Illinois, passed away on May 23 at OSF St. Francis Healthcare in Peoria, Illinois. She was 77 years old. Her family was by her side. A Scripture service will be conducted at the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle on Wednesday, May 31, at 7:00 PM. The service will take place on the 31st. The Very Reverend Paul Carlson, Pastor of Holy Family Church in Oglesby, will preside over the service and officiate as the main speaker. Following the funeral service, the ceremonies associated with the cremation of the body will be carried out.
Mary Morrissey was born to her parents, Joseph and Mary (Carey) Morrissey, on May 23, 1946. Her mother’s maiden name was Carey. She tied the knot with Ronald “RP” Pawlak, the man who would go on to become the love of her life as well as her closest friend, on March 16, 1974. Utica’s St. Mary’s Catholic Church served as the venue for the event’s ceremony. It continued for forty-seven years, until the year 2021, when he finally succumbed to his illness.
She opened her own hair shop in Utica, where she was employed for a number of years, and she ran it for a number of years. Before she finally took her retirement, she had racked up a total of sixty-four years of service there. She worked a full-time job and managed to bring up a family while also serving as an elected Trustee for the City of Utica over the course of more than thirty years. Her tenure on the board spanned the whole city. She placed the utmost value on the time she spent with her family, friends, and most importantly, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she found that time to be extremely enjoyable.
