John Askey Obituary, Death Cause – We are sorry to inform you that Chief John B. Askey (ret), who had a very lengthy career in the armed forces, passed away on May 21, 2023. He had served in the armed forces for a very long period. He enjoyed a very fruitful professional life. He had been of assistance for a significant amount of time already. On May 27, 2023, there was a funeral that was held in private, and no one who was not a member of the family was permitted to attend; instead, only members of the family were there.
May 20, 2023. The devoted great-grandfather of Jonathan and Henry Askey; the cherished grandfather of Brian, Kevin (Elizabeth), Daniel, and Kayla Askey; the dear brother of Thomas (Sue), Gerald “Bill” (Tammy) Askey and the late Mary Lou Miller, Henry “Hank” (Margaret “Peggy”), and Benjamin “Ben” Askey; also survived by a large number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. No prior visitation. The family came to the conclusion that it would be best for them to hold private ceremonies at a time and place that was most convenient for them. In lieu of sending flowers, those who wish to honor the memory of the departed may do so by making a contribution to the Hospice Foundation of Western New York.
We want the family and friends of Chief Askey to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers during this tremendously difficult time, and that they will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers long after this difficult period has concluded. During this challenging time, we want them to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers. Before taking retirement, served for a number of years as the Chief of Police for the city of Amherst.
