Hildegarde Krause Obituary, Death Cause – GREAT VALLEY – Mrs. Hildagarde “Hildie” Krause, who was 92 years old and from Great Valley, passed away on Friday (May 26, 2023) at Olean General Hospital after a brief battle with sickness. She was the daughter of Charles Nannen, who passed away, and Lana Langhans Nannen, who also passed away, and she was born in Ellicottville on March 9, 1931. She wed Mr. Charles Krause on May 3, 1958, and he passed away in 2017. She was predeceased by him in 2017. She was a member of the graduating class of 1950 at Ellicottville Central School. Hildie had worked as a bookkeeper for M. Murphy & Son up until the company shut down.

She subsequently moved on to Signore’s Inc., which was eventually acquired by the AVM Corporation and continued working there as a bookkeeper until she retired in 1999. In addition to that, she was the bookkeeper for VA Krause Construction and worked for the Town of Great Valley as a supervising clerk for close to four decades. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ellicottville and had served as the church’s treasurer in the past. Baking was a hobby of hers, and her legendary cookies are what people will remember her for. She found great satisfaction in being able to spend time with her loved ones, as well as in the great outdoors, tending to her garden, and preparing festive meals.

A sister, Charlene Nannen of Great Valley, as well as a number of nieces and nephews, are among those who have survived. Both of her siblings, a sister named Marilyn Hintz and a brother named James Nannen, passed away before she did. On Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located at 6360 Route 242 in Ellicottville. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Buringrud officiating. Green Cemetery is going to be used for the interment. Instead of sending flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in memory of their loved one. Funeral services are being coordinated by the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, which can be found at 25 River Street in Salamanca.
