Eric Littmann Obituary, Cause Of Death – Julie Byrne vividly recalls the day that she first met the guy who would forever alter the course of her life. She states, “I knew right away that I loved him.” Eric Littmann had assisted in engineering an outdoor live performance by the up-and-coming songwriter on a dry creek bed before to the 2014 SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. “He always said that right out of the gate, he felt chosen by me,” she remembers him saying.

“When I was in his company, I distinctly remember feeling completely at ease.” They joined forces when they were down by the stream. “We heard the call of a mourning dove, and I asked him whose song that was, and he told me.” [Translation:] “We heard the call of a mourning dove.” Today, mourning doves are widespread in the New York neighborhood that Byrne relocated to following Littmann’s sudden death in June 2021, at the age of 31.

This occurred when Byrne moved there after Littmann’s passing. One frequents the area next to the window of her studio. “As a bereaved person who is always trying to figure out how to reach him, these are things that I experience as visitations,” she adds while on the phone. “I’m always trying to figure out how to get in touch with him.” It doesn’t even really feel like a connection between the two. It seems genuine, unmistakable.”

During the time that Byrne refers to as “mine and Eric’s era,” the two of them had a strong connection that shone through her brilliant songwriting. Her compositions were drenched in folky fingerpicking, incandescent ambiance, and soft, raga-like swells. They “went crashing into love” early on and moved in together after just a month of dating.

“I would literally run from the train to get home to be with him sooner,” she adds as she is awestruck by the memories of her past behavior. After a period of one year, their relationship returned to that of simple friends, and Littmann became the consistent creative partner of an artist who had before been resolved to work alone.
