David McBride Obituary, Resident Of Pigeon Has Died

David McBride Obituary, Death Cause – After a valiant, courageous, and brief battle against a degenerative illness, Pigeon resident David J. McBride, age 62, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was surrounded by his family and died on his own terms. Dave was born on July 19, 1960 in Pigeon to Fred McBride, who passed away, and Carol Leipprandt, who also passed away. He spent a lot of his childhood outside, whether it was helping out on the farms of neighbors or engaging in mud clod and green tomato fights with his siblings.

He received his diploma from Laker High School in 1978, and the following year, while competing in the demolition derby at the county fair, he earned the affections of a young lady from Kinde. A few years later, in 1981, he tied the knot with the girl who would go on to become his closest confidante and primary focus for the rest of his life. They did their best to raise two boys together. After working at Huron Castings for 30 years as a truck driver, Dave decided to retire. He never stopped supporting his children, even after they had grown into adults, because being there for them was something he felt deeply about.

Dave volunteered to be a coach for the little league teams that his son played on, always made time to toss the ball around in the yard, and for many years served as President of the Laker FFA Alumni Association. He was a highly active person who enjoyed a variety of activities, including hunting, golfing, playing cards, shooting pool, and spending time with friends and family, particularly on summer weekend camping trips. He was an outstanding grandfather and father to his four grandchildren, all of whom had the deepest affection for him.
