Linda Dillon Obituary, Death Cause – On Thursday, May 25, 2023, in Lexington Estates at BCHC in Independence, Iowa, Linda F. Dillon, 74, passed away of natural causes. Burial will take place at a later date, and memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa. The funeral home will be open for visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Linda Faye Mendenhall, the daughter of Floyd and Beryl Irene (Smith) Mendenhall, was born on June 8, 1948, in San Jose, California. Linda and her family returned to Independence, Iowa after a brief sojourn in California so that Linda could resume her education. She wed William “Bill” Harold Dillon in Grace Lutheran Church in Jesup, Iowa, on August 1, 1965. They settled in rural Independence and brought up their children there. After two years at the paper, Linda took a job as a receptionist at Bloom Manufacturing, where she stayed for 30 years until she retired in 2008.

Linda was happiest when she was riding beside Bill on his motorbike. From 1974 to 2005, they visited 48 states in America and 5 provinces in Canada. They spent a lot of time together at motorcycle rallies and became fast friends. Linda liked going to casinos and always appeared to have good luck. Her rings from Bill were her favorite pieces of jewelry. She also enjoyed the outdoors and archery. If Linda went anywhere, she would have a nice time. She was always the center of attention. Her cheerful nature made others around her happy and joyful. In Independence, she attended the congregation of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

There are many people who will miss Linda: her husband of 57 years, William “Bill” Dillon of Independence, IA; her son, Ronald Dillon of Indianapolis, IN; her daughter, Rhonda Langham of Chandler, AZ; her two grandchildren, Drake Langham and Madison Buller; her sisters, Kaye (Russ Roth) Mendenhall Savago of Rowley, IA, Rebecca Jorgensen of Independence, IA, Doris (Cory Clinton) Shaw-Clinton Her parents, an infant son, Travis John Dillon, two sisters, two brothers, and a number of nephews and nieces, including Jimmy Savago, Danny Jokumsen, Adam Shaw, Terry Mendenhall, Stacey Mendenhall, Mark Mendenhall, and Dorsey Wilson, all predeceased her.
