The death occurred on May 10, 2023 of Barbara M. Reed, who resided in Walden, New York. She was born on June 20th, 1934 in Bronx, New York, to parents Joseph Donovan and Elizabeth Zuckert. She was their daughter. As a custodian at Valley Central High School, Barbara worked there for close to 30 years without taking a break. Around 78 years of Mom’s life were spent on the same land, and she was perfectly pleased to never venture too far from it.
Her grandchildren were her “kids,” and she spoiled them rotten by providing them with Christmas celebrations that would put Santa Claus to shame. Her family was the source of her deepest joy. Whoever ventured to speak something unpleasant about even one of them should have been punished by heaven. She looked out for each and every one of us. Our family finds solace in the fact that she is once again with the man who was the love of her life—our cherished “Mr. Reed”—who was also our father and grandfather. Mom, you can soar with the Angels! Until next time, know that everyone here loves you very much!
She was a huge fan of country music and polka bands, and she would frequently spend her weekends going to jamborees to dance to country music and polka music (when she wasn’t skating her legs off at the Angola in Cornwall). When Mom entered a room, everyone’s attention was immediately drawn to her. She was a stunning and vivacious woman who never stopped smiling. She had a genuine zest for life.
