Ida, his wife, his parents Rocco and Marta Lucia Amato, and his brothers Gerardo and Salvatore Amato had all left before he did. He was the last member of his family to leave. He was the only member of his family to have made it through life. It was just his son, Salvatore Amato, who managed to outlive him out of all of his family members.
