Todd Bagwell Obituary, Death Cause – Todd Bagwell was a longtime friend of ours and a fellow member of the Greenville-Pickens Speedway family as well as the local racing community. When we learned of his loss, we were startled and our hearts were devastated. Yesterday, on the day that would have been Todd’s birthday in 1962, he passed away in 2023. In other words, he passed away on the same day. Beautiful words from the eulogy that his wife, Leah Bagwell, wrote for him that were used in the funeral service: “In a moment of clarity yesterday, I realized they were waiting for him at his birthday party.” He is widely regarded as one of the most admirable and respected individuals that we are acquainted with at the present moment.
I know who made the cake for him, who gave him a hotdog, who sang “Happy Birthday,” and I know who hugged him second, because Jesus was the one who was there first and greeted him by giving him a bear hug with his scarred hands. I know who cooked the cake for him. I know who brought him the hotdog. I know who shouted “Happy Birthday.” Todd had a full and happy life, one that was filled with love for both the family he was born into and the family that he acquired along the way on the trip through life.
His life was filled with love for both his biological family and the family that he collected along the way. You, my love, and my whole heart will be profoundly missed since you are held in such high esteem and are loved and missed so much.
Here is a portion of Jackie Manley’s eulogy for his good friend, which includes the following quote: “Till we race again in the sky, we will be missing you!” Our sincerest condolences go out to Todd’s family and friends on their recent loss. I pray that he may one day be at ease.
