Rensje Court Obituary, Death Cause – Rensje Court (Leupen), age 97, formerly of Campbellton, New Brunswick, and currently residing at Serenacare Inc., died away in a calm and serene manner on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 in the Moncton Hospital, surrounded by her devoted family. She was the daughter of Hendrik and Bregtje (née Wagenaar) Leupen, both of whom passed away, and she was born in the Dutch town of Rolde.
In 1946, Rensje arrived in Canada as a Warbride on the Queen Mary, which docked at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Rensje had previously served in the Netherlands. After that, she boarded a train and made her way to Campbellton, New Brunswick, the city where she would eventually settle down with her husband and bring up their children. Rensje stayed in the cherished home that she and her husband built in Brookside for 72 years until the fall of 2018, when she made the decision to relocate to Moncton so that she could be closer to her daughter and her family.
On September 26, 1974, Rensje was granted citizenship in the country of Canada. She joined the United Church Women (UCW) and the First United Church in Campbellton when she was young and was a member of both organizations for the rest of her life. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and Oma who was adored by many people. Her children, Betsy Bastarache (John) and Jerry Court (Cheryl), as well as her grandchildren Kelly (late Gregory Neate), Tracy (Jason), Samuel, Willem, and Noah, and her great-granddaughter Lydia, will mourn her passing and be forever grateful for the time they had with her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Court; sister Miny; brothers Remt and Hendrik; and granddaughter Mikaela. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband. During the past four years, Susan Dixon and the team at Serenacare (4 Briarlea Drive) have shown Rensje an incredible amount of love and care, and the family would like to express their gratitude to both her and them.
