On April 8, 1927, in the community of Fox, Oregon, Eldon was brought into the world by his parents, Dewey Loys Johns and Goldie Ivy (Williams) Johns. He wed Gwendolyn Filber in 1951, and the couple went on to have a total of six children: two sons and four daughters, all of whom are devoted to the Lord and have families of their own. In total, he and Gwendolyn are the proud parents of two sons and four daughters. Gwen and her husband had been together for 29 years when she passed away unexpectedly and went to live with the Lord. The wedding took place on July 22, 1984 in Hermiston, Oregon, and was attended by Eldon and Beverly Ann Thom.
This occurrence led to the birth of three additional sons and one additional girl, bringing the total number of children in his household to four. He worked as a Highway Maintenance Technician for the state of Oregon for a total of 41 years until calling it quits and retiring on April 1, 1989. In addition to the numerous things he enjoyed doing in his spare time, such as hunting, fishing, and working with his hands, he was an active member of the Long Creek Community Church. Gwendolyn Elizabeth (Filber) Johns, who was his first wife, as well as his brothers Robert, Raymond, and Conard Johns, all perished dead before he did. The deaths of his parents, Dewey and Goldie Johns, were among many that occurred before he did.
