Bill Fitzgerald Obituary, Death Cause – Bill Fitzgerald has died. The abrupt demise of Bill Fitzgerald, a former athletic director for Fremont High School and the current executive director of the NSIAAA, came as a complete and utter shock. Beloved spouse of Trudy and father of Charlene, Gretchen, Catherine, and Will (with Laura), all of whom are married to other people. The grandfather of Daniel, David, Sophia, Abush, Caroline, Alex, Nolan, Lucy, and Julia. Grandfather of Daniel, David, and Sophia.
The late son of Evelyn and Gerry, who both passed away. He is the brother of Geralyn, Tim, and Greg, who passed away. St. Anthony, Newfoundland was where Bill spent the majority of his career as a general surgeon in rural settings. In the past, he has held the position of President for both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as the Canadian Association of General Surgeons.
In 2008, he was invested into the Order of Canada as a member for his contributions. Most recently, he served as Chairman of the B.O.L.D. organization in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. He had several passions in life, including spending time with his family, working as a rural general surgeon in Northern Newfoundland and Labrador, and going sailing on his Concordia Yawl named Tosca. Bill was a leader who put others first and had a significant impact on high school sports in Nebraska. He also served as a mentor to a large number of people. We are keeping his family in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
