Arthur Meyers Obituary, Resident Of Middletown CT Has Died

Arthur Meyers Obituary, Death Cause –  On May 24, 2023, Arthur Solomon Meyers, who had been a resident of Middletown, Connecticut for more than two decades, passed away in a calm and quiet manner. On December 14, 1937, he was born in New York, New York, to the late Nathan Meyers and the late Selma Meyers. He was the devoted husband of the late Marcia Meyers and the cherished father of Naomi Keenan (Patrick) and Ruth Meyers (Jeff Oathout). Both of his children were named after him. Stella, Darcy, and Francesca were all lucky to have such a loving grandfather. A lovely uncle and a loyal friend to many throughout his entire life.

His network of contacts was extremely extensive. Even if you didn’t know him, chances are your friends did. He was a member of a number of different community organizations on a monthly basis, one of which was the Rotary Club. Arthur served in the military and spent his entire career working as a librarian and Director in a variety of libraries across the country, including those in New York, Detroit, Baltimore, St. Louis, Muncie, Hammond, and Middletown, among others.

It was common knowledge that he was a master at securing funds for his libraries, and he never shied away from approaching local and state officials to seek for additional money to be allocated to the libraries. His legacy is summarized on a plaque that can be found in the Russell Library. It reads, “During his tenure as Director of Russell Library, Arthur Meyers engaged the entire community.” His unique warmth inspired people from a variety of backgrounds to engage with one another and talk about a variety of topics in the format of an open forum, for example, where the purpose was to elevate the level of public conversation by the striking of mind against mind.
