Joanne Hackman Obituary, Death Cause – On May 22, 2023, Joanne (Iacullo) Hackman, age 75, passed away in a manner that was unexpected. She was born on February 13, 1948 in Evanston, Illinois, daughter of Rocco and Irene Iacullo. Joanne graduated from Senn High School in 1965 before attending the University of Illinois Chicago where she graduated with High Honors in English. After graduating, Joanne pursued a career in education as an 8th grade English teacher at East Prairie School in Skokie, IL.
In 1975, she left education to raise a family. Joanne also spent over 20 years working at what felt like her second home, the Rolling Meadows Park District Ice Arena, serving as their Ice Show Coordinator. Joanne was a devoted wife, a doting mother, and a devoted grandmother to her family. On May 5th, 1973, she and Michael Hackman, who would later become her husband, tied the knot in Chicago. They recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary of 50 years earlier this month.
Family was everything to Joanne. She had no siblings of her own, so she focused all of her attention and energy on raising her four children: Erika (Ed) Antonucci, Lindsay (Mark) Cushing, Adam (Erin) Hackman, and Amber (Bill) Sarb. Joanne made it a point to attend all of her children’s extracurricular activities as they were growing up, whether it was ice shows, hockey games, dance recitals, or school functions. If there was a Hackman child taking part in the activity, you could bet your bottom dollar that Joanne would be there to watch them. Joanne and Michael also loved traveling with their family. Many of her fondest memories involved trips to Disney World as well as their frequent family cruises through the Caribbean, Mexico, and Hawaii.
