Joann Thompson Obituary, Death Cause – On Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the age of 89 and as the widow of the late Daniel Louis Thompson, Joann Strickland Thompson passed away at The Journey House in Claxton, Georgia. Joann Strickland Thompson was a resident of Metter, Georgia, and she was married to Daniel Louis Thompson. Her parents, Olen and Ruth Crosby Strickland, had both passed away prior to her birth on November 19, 1933 in Walterboro, South Carolina.
She was the daughter of Olen and Ruth Crosby Strickland. She had a natural flair for interior design in addition to a deep-seated interest in plants. Her family was the most important thing in her life, and she took great pleasure in seeing to all of their requirements. Her son, Aubrey Thompson, and her daughter, Diane Fleming, as well as her brothers Arnold Strickland, Odean Strickland, and Willie Strickland, her sister Dorothy “Dot” Rogers, and her twin sister Barbara Ann Lyles all passed away before her. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Her parents and the husband she had been married to for fifty-six years were also among the people who had died before she did. Those who are still alive now include her children Bonnie and Doug Tyson of Metter, Cheryl and Forrest Conder of Register, and Jean Thompson of Walterboro. She also has nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Betty Ruth Sparks of Walterboro is the only surviving member of the Sparks family, and she is a sister.
