Jason McGlothlin Obituary, Jason McGlothlin Has Passed Away

Jason McGlothlin Obituary, Death Cause – On Monday, May 22, 2018, Dr. Jason McGlothlin passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. It is with the utmost regret that we share this news with you. Dr. McGlothlin held the positions of President of the Ohio Counseling Association (2020-2021) and Chair of the Midwest Region of the American Counseling Association (2022-2023) during his career. He was a CACREP Liaison in addition to his position at Kent State University as an Associate Professor of Counselor Education and Supervision.

Because of his work and presence, he was able to affect the lives of many people and teach us about patience and kindness toward others. His expertise, enthusiasm, and commitment shone through in his classroom instruction as well as in his research. The most striking thing about Jason was his ability to motivate not only students but also coworkers. He never stopped going the extra mile to offer assistance and to make sure there was a great learning atmosphere. In addition to the success he had achieved in his professional life, Jason was a kind and sensitive person.

Those who had the honor of calling him a friend and benefiting from his ability to lend an ear or provide direction will miss him dearly now that he is gone. The members of his family, including his wife Debbie, sons Matthew and David, and daughter Dominique, are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. This is an awful setback for the Ohio Counseling Association, the American Counseling Association Midwest, and the entire counseling profession. Let us honor Jason’s memory by carrying on his tradition of emulating the highest possible levels of compassion, generosity, and kindness in everything that we do. Together, we will be able to do justice to his memory and continue his legacy of great humanity.
