Helen M. Imhoff Obituary, Helen M. Imhoff Has Passed Away

Helen M. Imhoff Obituary, Death Cause – The death of Helen M. Imhoff took place on May 25, 2023, when she was 99 years old. She was born in La Center, Kentucky, on October 9, 1923, to parents named Barney and Oma Beard. Her childhood was filled with laughter thanks to the presence of her many brothers and sisters in Cairo, Illinois. She would always look forward to spending the summer at her aunt and uncle’s magnificent farm and orchard in Kentucky with her cousin, where they would make the most of their time together adventuring across the countryside.

Over the course of her career, which spanned more than three decades, Helen worked as a switchboard operator, the majority of those years being spent at General Telephone in Carbondale. She took great pleasure in assisting those who were in need, and she was given a number of accolades for going above and beyond in her work to assist those who had placed help requests with the operator.

After she retired, she became interested in a variety of volunteer activities, such as serving on the Carbondale Citizens Community Development Steering Committee and becoming an election judge. Together with her friends, she enjoyed going walking and biking at the mall. She was a very competitive person who had a passion for entertaining guests and playing games at her events. She had a deep appreciation for music, and it was not unusual for her to distribute hymnals to her guests after the meal was over so that everyone could sing together. She enjoyed going on vacations with her daughter and other people, and some of her favorite trips were visits to Las Vegas and New York City to watch plays on Broadway. Both the Eagles Auxiliary and the Ridge Church counted her as a member at one point or another.
