Daniel Martel Obituary, Death Cause – On Thursday, a man from Shoemakersville was killed after the automobile he was driving was engaged in a collision with a garbage truck. The garbage truck was the vehicle that caused the guy’s death. At the site, the victim’s death was confirmed by medical personnel. At 5:55 in the morning, emergency personnel in Richmond Township discovered a 66-year-old man named Daniel Martel who was unresponsive at the intersection of Fleetwood Lyons and School roads. It was discovered that he had been found dead at the scene of the accident. The following account of the incident has been provided as a synopsis by the Fleetwood Police Department:
Martel was trying to make a left turn from School Road onto Fleetwood Lyons Road when he went through the junction instead. He was heading in the completely incorrect direction. Alexander Long, 37 years old and from Fleetwood, was the unlucky victim of the accident because he was driving a garbage truck at the time. Martel was struck and ultimately passed away as a result of his injuries. Long, who was driving in the opposite direction on Fleetwood Lyons Road, attempted to escape the collision but was unable to do so in time. He was unfortunately involved in the collision.
After colliding head-on with Martel’s car on the driver’s side, his own vehicle rolled onto its side and toppled as a result of the accident. When the police came, they found that the garbage truck had flipped over and was on fire, in addition to the fact that the second car had already sustained significant damage before their arrival. It was determined by the office of the coroner in Berks County that Martel was a victim of the accident that ultimately resulted in his passing away.
