Michael Hollis Obituary, Death Cause – Michael Joseph Hollis, 68 years old, passed away at home on Saturday, May 20, 2023. He was a resident of Charlestown, Maryland. He was the son of Grace Kumnik Hollis, who had passed away, and the late Michael E. Hollis, who was born on November 15, 1954 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mike has had a successful and lengthy career in the field of telecommunications engineering, much like his father did before him. He worked with AT&T Lucent Technology in Hunt Valley, Maryland for more than 30 years before he just retired.

Mike’s favorite things to do in his spare time were fishing, boating, hunting, and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, both of which are from his hometown. Mike took great pleasure in mowing both his own and his neighbor’s lawns using his riding mower. Together, he and Marlene enjoyed going on day trips frequently, watching football and hockey, and fishing and crabbing were two of their favorite things to do in their free time. The donation of one of Mike’s kidneys to his sister was one of the selfless acts that he performed during his lifetime.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Marlene Herget; his daughter, Nicole Hollis; his siblings, Judy Eiben (Rich), Mark Hollis (Karen), Diane Santo (John), Linda Eicheldinger (Steve), Nancy Smathers (Jim), and Dan Hollis (Annette); his sister-in-law, Michele Herget; and his numerous nieces and nephews, whose lives were made better by the presence of their Uncle Mike. Mike’s passing will be felt deeply by his family and the many people he held dear.
