Kathleen Herlihy Obituary, Kathleen Herlihy Has Passed Away

Kathleen Herlihy Obituary, Death Cause – Kathleen Mary Herlihy (Princiotta), 57 years old, passed away on April 9, 2023 at her home in Wallingford, Connecticut. She was accompanied by family and friends at the time of her passing. Kathy was raised in Walden, New York, by her parents, Jean and Joe Princiotta, after she was born on May 15, 1965 in The Bronx, New York, New York. They both graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh, where she first met her future husband, Jim.

Kathy devoted her life to her family and to helping others in any way she could, whether it was through the care she gave to her children, the animals she took in as pets, her work on the boards of many charitable organizations, or her readiness to assist any one of her many friends at a moment’s notice. Kathy had a deep appreciation for music, particularly musical theater on Broadway. Throughout her life, she has worked as a voice and piano instructor, has produced musicals, and has been a lead vocalist in a band.

Her children inherited her love of music, which she primarily did by encouraging them to belt out their favorite tunes in the car while they traveled. Since 2017, Kathy has served on the board of directors for the Sleeping Giant Build chapter of Habitat for Humanity. She is survived by her husband Jim, her children Kiley and Dan, her sister Pat, and a large number of cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews. Her husband Jim and her children Kiley and Dan survive her as well.

The family would like to express their gratitude to everyone on the Smilow Cancer Center team at Yale for all of the help they have given Kathy over the past few years. On Saturday, June 17, the family will host a visitation for extended family and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home located at 809 N. Main St. Ext from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The Reverend Father Kingsley Ihejirika will preside over the memorial service that will take place at noon in the funeral home.
