John Mccool Obituary, Death Cause – On the morning of Tuesday, May 9, 2023, John L. “Larry” McCool, Jr., 74, of Grove City, Ohio, died away as he was surrounded by his family. In Grove City on December 29th, 1948, Larry McCool was brought into the world by his parents, John L. and Drusilla A. (Coffin) McCool, Sr. On August 3, 1968, he tied the knot with Bonnie L. Arblaster.

He received his diploma from Slippery Rock High School in the year 1966. After signing up with the Marine Corps and serving in that branch for the first decade of his military career, Larry transferred to the Army National Guard and eventually retired after more than 21 years of active duty. Following a period of 21 years of service, Larry’s position as a marketing engineer at Cooper Bessemer was terminated in the year 1999.

After his time spent at Cooper, Larry went on to become the owner of McCool’s Slippery Rock Sportswear and ran it from the year 2000 to the year 2013. In 2021, he was presented with a lifetime membership from the American Legion in recognition of his 50 years of service. Additionally, he was a Freemason and a member of Zem Zem Shrine in Erie, as well as New Castle Consistory and F and AM Lodge #603 in Grove City.

He liked spending time with his family, going camping, watching football and auto racing, and hanging out with his dog Junior. Junior was his best friend. Larry was a great husband, father, mentor, and grandpa who will be missed by all of his friends and family members deeply. Larry is survived by his wife, Bonnie, who resides at their home; two sons, Michael (Micki) McCool and Kris (Bridgette) McCool; four grandsons, Michael, Kyle, Mackenzie, and Bridget; and a great-grandson, Marlin Smoker.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, a grandchild named Jeremy, a sister named Judith, and a brother named Gary. Donations in memory of the deceased may be sent to the Strayhaven Animal Shelter, located at 94 Donation Road, Greenville, Pennsylvania 16125.
