Ira Domnitz Obituary, Death Cause – We wish to express our deepest condolences to Ira Domnitz’s family, friends, and colleagues on his passing. He was a founding member of our organization. Over the course of more than a decade, he was responsible for bringing fans of Doctor Who together on a much more meaningful level than simply recapping the previous season. Ira was the most significant financial, participatory, and promotional backer of the Doctor Who and literature tracks at Comicpalooza ever since he became involved with the event. This support was provided behind the scenes.

It was his absolute favorite thing to engage in any kind of intellectual or legal conversation, and he especially relished the chance to draw on the training he had received in philosophy. He actually exuded a warmth that invited others in and made them feel at home. The panels about Doctor Who will go on as planned. Even though the other founding members will never be able to fill Ira’s shoes or bring his viewpoint, background, and depth of knowledge to the panel table, we will try our best to offer panels of the same level and depth as we have been doing for the past ten years.

Ira presented a number of panels on a variety of other topics in addition to Doctor Who, including the legal implications of cosplay, writing, and art. At the end of the day, he was known as the “Cosplay Lawyer.” Ira had several passions throughout life, including his family and friends, the television show Doctor Who, the law, and moderating debate panels at conventions. He was a complete and utter dork, a devoted watcher of Doctor Who, and a wealth of information regarding the old series. Ira was just as friendly, honest, and joyous outside of the convention as he was while he was performing on stage.

Ira certainly would not want the conversations to come to a close, and I have no doubt that he will be following the panels that take place this weekend.
