Frank Thornton Obituary, Death Cause – The health of Frank Thornton, who was 90 years old and from Santo, Texas, had been deteriorating for a few months before to his passing on May 23, 2023 at his home in Santo, Texas. Edward Franklin Thornton was born in Lone Camp, Texas on the 31st of July, 1932. His parents were Robert Lee (Bob) and Josie ‘Isreal’ Thornton. Frank was a student at Santo School all the way through until his graduation. At the skating rink, he was in high school when he first met the woman who would become the love of his life, Patsy Nell Sparks.
He was only six hours short of completing the requirements for his Bachelor’s Degree. While Frank and Pat were residing in Fort Worth, they were also involved in a number of different entrepreneurial activities. Frank came to the conclusion one day that he was squandering opportunities to spend time with his family. He prayed about it, and he and Pat came to the conclusion that they should relocate back to Santo and buy the small feed and general store there.
They began dating after that. The couple began their life together after getting married on the first of June in 1951. They named their children Connie and Danny and had two of them. They had been living in Santo, but decided to make the move to Fort Worth while Frank was working at General Dynamics. During this time, he went to night school at TCU and obtained his Associate’s Degree.
The two of them agreed this while passing notes back and forth during church service. The Thornton Mercantile first opened its doors in this very location. They went back to Santo and started the business the same day. Frank devoted the rest of his life to serving the community of Santo, which is where he was born and raised.
