Wayne Jacob Obituary, Death Cause – Wayne Paul Jacob, who died away on May 18, 2023, was known to many people as “Pop” and “Jaco.” It is with a great deal of love and admiration that we honor the life of Wayne Paul Jacob. LaPlace, Louisiana being the location of his birth on June 22nd, 1947. People whose lives he touched will never be the same because of Wayne’s love, loyalty, dedication, and wisdom.

He left an indelible impression on the lives of those who had the honor to know him. As a loving and devoted husband, father, grandparent, and great-grandfather, Wayne exemplified love and commitment in every aspect of his life. Throughout his entire life, Wayne displayed an enthusiasm for a variety of activities, such as farming, breeding and racing thoroughbred horses, shrimping, growing livestock, and spending family weekends at Grand Isle.

He also showed a strong interest in rearing animals. He cherished the time he got to spend with his devoted wife of 57 years, JoAnn, as well as with their offspring, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to being an avid supporter of LSU throughout his life, Wayne was also devoted to coaching little league at Larayo, where he had an impact on the lives of countless young athletes.

He went on to graduate from Leon Godchaux High School, where he was a member of the football and track teams. He finally got married to JoAnn, the girl he had a crush on during high school. As the first owners of Wayne Jacob’s Smokehouse in LaPlace, they worked together to create a wonderful life for themselves as well as a successful enterprise.
