Ruth Johnson Obituary, Death Cause – On May 19, 2023, Ruth Attean Davis Johnson, who was a resident of the Penobscot Nation and Bangor, Maine, died away peacefully at home, surrounded by her devoted family. She was a mother of 5 children, (Lynda, Peter, Kristin & Shawn, Mitchell, and Nicole & Kenneth), Grandmother of 13 (Darren, Irene, Joseph, Brandi, Lynda, Joseph & Tiffany, Katrina, Tabitha, Kahlan, Simiyah, Neil, Samuel, and Nathan), and Great Grandmother of 10 (Trinity, Hailey, Jace, Atreyu, Ziya, Kailyn, Jadawn, Sincere, Jessilyn, and Bellamy) and Godmother to Phillip Attean.
She was also preceded in death by her partners, Ronald Keeling, Reginald “Reggie” Buckley, Lonnie Johnson, and Richard “Duane” Faloon. Lonnie Johnson was her last surviving partner.
Ruth was the last member of her generation and she carried the Attean identity with great pride. A special mention should be made of her close friends, many of whom she thought of as family: Lenny Rose, Barbara “Bear Woman”, Richard “Badger” Fuller, Sharon Jordan & Lauren Stevens, Pam Cunningham, Sue Romero, Eugene “Chippy” Loring, Leon Sapiel, and Rick Pouliot; the Split Feather Singers; the Burnurwurbskek Singers; “Dike rats,” “Poker buddies,”
She made room in her heart for each and every cherished member of her extended family, including her cousins, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her biological mother Eunice and her biological father Elmer Attean, as well as by her adopted mother Ruth and her adoptive father Forest Davis. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her biological siblings Connie, Gary, Priscilla, Peter, Janice Irene, Sharon, and Brian, as well as by her adopted brothers John and Joseph.
