Robert Dowdell Obituary, Death Cause – Robert Victor Dowdell, age 53, of Batavia, Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, Illinois. He was a patient there. He was the son of Richard and Carolyn (Ansbro) Dowdell and was born on March 9, 1970 in Woodridge, Illinois. On October 21, 2000, in the town of Mooseheart, Illinois, he wed the woman who would become his wife, Theresa (Shaffer) Dowdell. Lifelong resident of Batavia, played baseball for Batavia Youth Baseball, football and wrestling for Batavia High School, and graduated with the class of 1988.The Economics and Communications Department of Eastern Illinois University. At the age of seven, he became an ardent supporter of the Miami Dolphins, and from that point on, he eagerly awaited each NFL season.

It was a dream come true for him to go to Miami and see a Dolphin game in their home stadium, and as an added bonus, he got to meet several of the players while he was there. Additionally, he was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, and he actually traveled to Boston to watch two games at Fenway Park before it was torn down and rebuilt. He will never forget the unforgettable summer he spent with his closest friends going to Major League Baseball games all around the Midwest. Because he and his daughters have a passion for roller coasters, they frequently find themselves standing in long lines. During these times, they are able to observe their father’s innate ability to make friends with people in his immediate environment.

Rob always found time to contact a family member or friend just to talk, and he could build a narrative out of the most ordinary errand on a Tuesday afternoon. His communication abilities and talents were what made him our beloved Rob. His family includes his wife Theresa, their kids Rhiannon and Shaye Dowdell, as well as his mother Carolyn, brother Rick Dowdell, sisters Karen Doenges and Shannon Rounds, step mother Lynn Dowdell, and a number of nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife Theresa and their daughters Rhiannon and Shaye Dowdell. His father, Richard Dowdell, and his brother, Mark Dowdell, both passed away before he was born.
