Jan Sheridan Obituary, Death Cause – Janice M. Sheridan, who was 98 years old and lived in Bel Air, Maryland, was greeted by her heavenly father on May 19, 2023 at the residence of her daughter, which was located in Wooster, Ohio. Jan was cherished in her roles as a friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the daughter of George Meuschke and Mary (Hoffman) Meuschke and was married to the late Walter W. Sheridan.
Because of Jan’s remarkable leadership and devotion, the Girl Scouts of America bestowed upon her the Thanks Badge, which is one of the organization’s most prestigious accolades. Jan was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts of America. She attended the St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Bel Air, where she was a member. Jan took pleasure in spending time with her family, playing golf with her grandsons, going on vacation to the beach, spending time with friends, reading, and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
She was born in Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Jan spent the better part of the past four decades serving as a hostess at her family’s business, The Country Garden Center, located on Creswell Road in Bel Air. Jan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1946. In following years, she continued her education at Longwood Gardens and eventually earned her Master Gardener credential there.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Judith S. Jackwood, who resides in Wooster, Ohio; her grandkids, Kristen (Nick) Caulier, Ryan W. Jackwood, Steven (Joshlin) Sheridan, Matthew Sheridan, Lindsay (Steven) Payne, and Emma Sheridan; and her great-grandchildren, Zoey Caulier, Quinn Caulier, and Nora Payne. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Stanley Albert Sheridan, her daughter-in-law Susan B. (Halsey) Sheridan, and her sister Jeannie Meuschke. Her parents and her husband both passed away before her.
