Bob Zimmer Obituary, Death Cause – We are thinking about and praying for all of you. During his time at the University of Chicago, he also helped to broaden access to higher education through the provision of scholarships and other forms of financial assistance. In addition to this, Bob was a stalwart advocate for the Obama Presidential Center. He was of the belief that it would have a significant and favorable effect on the lives of young people who lived on the South Side. Because of his unwavering commitment, we were moved to establish the Center at that location.

We owe Bob a great debt of gratitude for the incredible contribution that he has made to both the city and the institution. The city and the institution have both played an important part in the development of our identities, therefore we owe Bob an immense debt of thanks. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Shadi, and his three sons, Alex, Benjamin, and David, as well as the entire community at the University of Chicago, during this difficult time.

Both Michelle and I felt a deep sense of loss upon hearing the news of Bob Zimmer’s passing. Zimmer was the 13th President of the University of Chicago. Bob was a visionary and influential figure in American society who held the position of president of one of the largest numbers of institutions in the country. During his time at the University of Chicago, he was instrumental in the development of the institution’s reputation for academic quality, the expansion of the university’s presence around the world and throughout the South Side, and the helping to broaden access to higher education through the provision of scholarships and other forms of financial assistance.
